You'll never be out of alignment with Eaton

Apr 3, 2023

When it comes to our channel partners, Eaton takes to heart the old adage, "be careful with whom you align yourself." In fact, that proverb has been front-of-mind for more than a decade as we have worked diligently to develop alliances with key IT virtualization vendors. For our partners, aligning with Eaton affords nothing but advantages.

Alliances have been a key element of the Eaton strategy since 2009, when we became the first power company to introduce a solution capable of triggering a live migration of virtual machines in the event of a power outage, an achievement we accomplished through the VMware vCenter platform. Over the years, we have unveiled many additional industry-firsts with a range of leading IT providers.

Eaton partners with industry leaders such as VMware, Cisco, NetApp, Dell, HPE, Nutanix and Scale Computing to provide added value by extending the availability of your customers' IT infrastructures.

Joining forces for progress

For example, we take pride in having been the original manufacturer to initiate a cluster shutdown for VxRail ― a complex development that required us to co-develop a unique shutdown procedure with Dell's engineering team. The complicated endeavor involved designing an approach that would shut down a cluster within a VM living inside that cluster.

Our ability to enable power capping on HPE servers is another instance of a unique alliance achievement managed through OneView and Eaton's disaster avoidance software plug-in for the ConnectWise Automate RMM. The development was a game-changer for managed service providers (MSPs), allowing them to monitor power situations and intelligent automations.

Recently, we announced a new alliance with Scale Computing, a leading provider of hyperconverged solutions for the edge market. In fact, we joined the Scale team at their most recent partner conference and demonstrated the integration of our IPM disaster avoidance software with Scale's hypervisor HyperCore ― yet another industry-first.

Keeping pace with other platforms

While Eaton has always been focused on being first-to-market and positioning ourselves as an innovator, we understand that it is equally important to ensure that our integrations keep pace with the development of the platforms with which we align. To that end, we are continuously updating our software to remain compatible with the latest versions of VMware vSphere, Dell VxRail and Nutanix AHV, for instance. Furthermore, to provide customers with unbiased advice from vendors they trust about the quality of our solutions, we make sure our solutions are tested and validated by these IT companies.

Evaluating every opportunity

It's not only these strategic alliances that provide significant benefits to our channel partners; we also extend value through our own internal alliance program, Power Advantage. Program participants can even cash in on additional discounts when registering a deal that includes one of our integrations.

Eaton is always on the lookout for new integrations, especially with new, emerging vendors and technologies. This commitment not only positions us as the leading power vendor in the IT industry, but represents assurance for partners that we will always support the current and future needs of your customers, whatever they may be. This is yet another example of the importance of being careful with whom you align!

Keep an eye out for our #EatonGetsIT hashtag, which was inspired by our recurring knowledge of the IT market and future trends through all of these alliances.
